Essence Wilson Communication Strategist, Blogger, Mom

Hi, My Name is Essence

By day, I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 wonderful boys, a wife, a real-estate investor, a cook, a teacher, a terrible gardener, an okay designer, and now – officially – a blogger. Prior to becoming a SAHM I was a former corporate professional specializing in strategic communication and organizational development for a fortune 500 company in Atlanta, GA. During that time, I definitely pulled double duty. Being a mom and wife didn’t stop because of my career so it’s fair to say I’m very familiar with both worlds – the advantages and disadvantages.

Like many women, I wear several hats. I am particularly skilled in many things but a master of none which posed as a challenge when determining the purpose of my blog. I kept asking myself, “What do I have to offer the world?”.Truth is, nothing. I am no more special than anyone else I encounter. However, with all the blogs out there offering expert advise, fashion suggestion, beauty recommendations, and on and on, the one thing that I rarely find is a blog that really touches on the “realness” ordinary people – and specifically women – go through.

We are defined by our journeys and the decisions we make everyday – all of them imperfect and perfect at the same time. It’s this dichotomy that makes us unique and yet, so fragile. What I want to offer is space to strengthen that fragility. I’ve always appreciated the satisfaction of sharing and receiving love, affirmation, and support from those around me – something I think women are doing less and less of as each generation passes.

I hope as I begin to share my experiences with being a professional, mom, wife, and entrepreneur, that I spark inspiration in others. I am unafraid to be vulnerable and reassuring to those around me. I want to be an open-book about mistakes and hardships, victories and failures, and acceptance and forgiveness for my readers. I hope to be a helping hand in ensuring your success whatever the endeavor.
